![]() Birds of Prey's Huntress was certainly unlike any other take on the character, with even Batman possibly having a hard time finding the family resemblance. Huntress wore a long leather overcoat in the place of a true costume, with her powers also meaning that she eschewed her usual crossbow. Only Barbara Gordon got a particularly well-done adaptation, with the show even recreating her being paralyzed by The Joker in the storyline The Killing Joke. Giving Huntress superpowers was one of many changes that the Birds of Prey show made, with the characters of Huntress and especially Black Canary being almost completely unrecognizable. Likewise, it meant that Michael Keaton's version of Batman was Helena Kyle's father, though Selina had raised the girl in secret. Thus, she had no superpowers and instead relied upon weapons and gadgets such as her trusty crossbow. The same went for her abilities, with her fighting skills and acrobatics making her right at home in the family business. Her costume - with its purple color scheme and pointed mask - was essentially a cross between her parents' looks. When her mother Selina Kyle was killed after briefly resuming the Catwoman identity, Helena decided to avenge her death by becoming the heroic vigilante known as the Huntress. Though she was trained by her parents to be incredibly athletic and later took up an education in law, she initially wasn't a superhero and was at first oblivious to her parents' pasts. In his later years, the Caped Crusader would marry Selina Kyle, the reformed criminal once known as Catwoman, and they would have a daughter named Helena. She existed on Earth-2, an alternate universe of the mainstream DC Comics stories, and it was in this reality that the original Golden Age Batman who debuted in Detective Comics #27 lived. Debuting in DC Super-Stars #17, Helena Wayne was created by Paul Levitz, Joe Staton and Bob Layton. Warner Bros.’ DC Comics films will return to Gotham City in Birds of Prey, the first follow up film for Suicide Squad’s Margot Robbie in the role of Harley Quinn.
